Okay, maybe it's a slight exaggeration!

It's been a while since I've walked uptown along the East River, from the South Street Seaport.

This past weekend I figured I'd take my Little One on a walk up to get some treats from the Lower East Side and potentially to the new playgrounds on the east side that I heard had opened.

It didn't go to plan.

So I know the construction has been going on for a while, but I didn't realize just how disruptive it is! If you are going to go, be prepared to switch between the road and walking behind a wall. I'm not usually a jumpy person, but I will say I walked a little faster during this trip - it was a little isolated when walking along the water behind the barricade. Needless to say, we didn't make it up to the new playgrounds because the walk sketched me out. I was even walking too fast to take the usual photos with the Little One!

Is Michaeli bakery in the LES worth this trek? Well, yes! It's delicious! But maybe take the bus.

Definitely get:

  • Chocolate babka
  • Sesame challah
  • Cheese straw
  • Feta boureka
  • Pizza boureka
  • Mushroom boureka

Skip:

So this past adventure was a failure by our usual adventurous standards, but consider it my warning to you all to avoid the walk for now. Take the bus!

I'll report back when it's finally a nicer walk to take with the Little Ones!

I haven't been yet, but have heard great things. This seems like a pretty good deal to me!

When: Now until Sunday, September 21

... and another thing for the family...

Off Menu Collabs

We're a Tree Nut allergy household, however the idea of a pistachio ricotta cannoli ice cream Sunday is intrigueing (well for me anyway!)

When: Now until Sunday, September 21

... What I am getting tickets for now...

NYC Ballet - Family Saturdays

I keep missing out on tickets and these events don't happen often, so I am getting them early this time! Sure, they say Little Ones need to be 5+... does it count if my 4 year old is as tall as a 5 year old!?

When: Saturday, October 11, at 11am

What Saved my sanity this week...

Simple Modern - Summit bottle

I'm obsessed! Thank you to local Mom Virginia, for getting this for my Little One! I've donated our old camelback bottles and replaced them with these. No leak, keeps cool and super cute!

What we are Reading this week...

"Knuffle Bunny Too" - Mo Willems

I've recommended so many of his books (especially Nanette's Baguette) and this is cute too. I like that it mixes cartoons with real life pictures of Park Slope!

What I am obsessed with this week...

Easy Derm - Bandage patches

Local Mom Anna, introduced me to these a few months ago and I am obsessed. I have burnt myself using the oven twice this past week alone! This bandage is magic! I even have one burn from 2 months ago that left no scar at all! I've been using it for accidents with my Little One too!

... I know it's weird to see a Seattle address for a NYC based newsletter, but I promise that this is the official address for this newsletter given I use Kit as my provider!
