Always meet your heroes... especially if snacks are involved!

I caved.

These cold days are getting to me and I don't know about you all, but I'm struggling to keep this Little One entertained.

Enter: Bluey x Camp

We all know I'm a sucker for Bluey. But crowds of parents and children? Eh.

That said, we did it and I really did enjoy it!

I am impressed with:

  • How they use the space - Always amazes me how New Yorkers can create so much with such little space
  • The actors interacting with the children to play 'Dance Mode' and 'Grannies'
  • It really does feel like you're inside the Healer household. Yes, I got emotional when I saw the bit Kiwi rug

Handy tips:

  • Avoid the left side of the store (when you walk in) if you think your Little One will have a meltdown when they see the fancy Cotton Candy machine
  • Dress your Little One in a Bluey outfit from Target before arriving to avoid being suckered into buying an overpriced sweater there
  • When you go to meet Bluey and Bingo at the end, hang back a little and let others go first. My Little One was freaked out and it would have been better for her to see other kids getting a photo before her
  • The membership is great if you can round up four kids (think: buy 3, get 1 free). That said, it’s one more thing to add to your “don’t forget to cancel before it auto-renews” list

What about birthday parties? I can't really speak to it, but I have to imagine that unless you've got the whole space to yourself, a birthday party at this place would be an actual nightmare.

Now, I know I said to avoid the fancy Cotton Candy machine when you are in the store, but let’s be real it was probably the best $10 I spent all day. I’m a total sucker for Fairy Floss (what we Aussies call Cotton Candy).

I kind of want to go back just to get another fancy Fairy Floss for myself.

What we are doing this week...

Bake Sale: To LIVE and BUILD in LA

I’m feeling a little helpless with everything happening in LA, so I’m channeling that energy into what I can do—baking for the Bake Sale at Archestratus this Saturday, January 25th!

Correction: I’m baking and buying all the incredible baked goods they’ll have this weekend.

The last bake sale I participated in, to support Yu & Me Books, was such a joy! It was a huge success, and I was lucky enough to try some phenomenal treats from so many talented local bakers. I can’t wait to do it all over again and support a good cause in the process. Hope to see you there!

... and another thing for this week...

Taylor Swifts New York - A Walking Tour

Now, I am not a Swifty... please don't come for me!

But my niece is and she is in town visiting me, so guess who is sucking it up and bundling up my Little One to take them both on a Swifty walking tour. If this doesn't win me brownie points, I don't know what will!

What Saved my sanity this week...

Zingo - Board Game

We are OBSESSED!

This game is so much fun to play. I have even caught my little one taking it out and playing it by herself.

Side note, it brings me back to my Rebel Bingo days in NYC in my early thirties. If you know, you know.

What we are Reading this week...

"The Snowy Day" by Ezra Jack Keats

Every morning my Little One is jumping up to see whether it snowed during the night. I also discovered that it has been turned into a television special on Amazon Prime. Definitely falls into the calm and pleasant category of tv shows to watch.

What we are loving this week...

Brain Quest Smart Cards

My Little One runs around the house begging to 'play' this game and I can't help but feel mother-of-the-year over here that she thinks something so educational, is a game.

What i am watching this week...

Traitors - Season 3 on Peacock

Watch. This. Show.

I am so addicted that I have seen all 3 US seasons, 2 Australian seasons, 3 British seasons and 1 New Zealand season. It doesn't get old.

If you haven't seen any, start with this season. I don't know a lot of the Survivor, Big Brother, Challenger people, but I am a Bravo girl and obsessed that they got Dorinda on the show!
