We've gone rogue with an LA edition!

โ€‹

โ€‹

I know, I know... blasphemy for us New Yorkers.

But many of you know we travel to LA to visit family, and I always get questions about fun things to do in LA with a Little One.

LA is obviously huge and this little newsletter can't cover it all, so here are some highlights:

When we need to kill time after landing at LAX

Stop 1: Randy's Donuts. I can't say they're the best donuts in the world, but if you're a recovering childhood Simpsons fan, then you have to stop to take a photo of the giant donut you fly over when landing at LAX

Stop 2: Travel Town Museum. The most adorable train museum. Highly recommend stopping by to run around the train yard and take the adorable mini train around the grounds too

Stop 3: Borekas Sephardic Pastries. Order online before heading there to make sure they don't sell out!

When we need a quick meal while driving around

Pretty much anywhere: California Chicken Cafe. To say i'm obsessed is an understatement. Get the Melrose wrap with extra Italian dressing... now, have I shipped myself bottles of this Italian dressing?!!? Maybe...

Close to Santa Monica: Tartine. Ever since I realized this SF based bakery opened up in LA, I insist we drive out to Santa Monica to pick up a croissant. This particular location is in a former funeral home. Sounds odd, but it's a beautiful spot to stop and eat

When we're in Malibu

Kid's Playground: Malibu Park Playground. This is up there as one of my favorite playgrounds ever. It's a big firetruck themed playground, with a police car and ambulance too. It's well contained and has great adirondacks all around for adults (and especially grandparents!) to sit and watch the Little Ones.

Adults and Kid's Playground: Barefoot Dreams Flagship Store. Now I am obsessed with Barefoot Dreams blankets, sweaters... everything. In between the two stores in Malibu, are super fun things to play with outside. A giant connect 4, ping pong table, cornhole... so many things!

Quick eat: Malibu Sushi. The best poke bowl I have had in a long time. We usually pick it up to go and eat by the playground.

Longer meal: Taverna Tony. I love Greek food. In fact it's our Valentine's Day tradition to go out for Greek food on Valentine's Day and this year we topped it by going to our favorite Greek place in LA. The free 'bread dip' they give at the start is life changing...

Dessert: Kith Treats. Now I know we have a Kith store in Soho, but this one was pretty great to stop at and enjoy a soft serve ice cream. It was so good, that I may need to visit the New York one now that we're back this week!

โ€‹
I promise we'll be back to our regular New York adventures next week. But if youโ€™ve got an LA trip coming up, let me know if you check out any of these spots - Iโ€™d love to hear what you think!

What we are doing this week...

โ€‹NYC Off-Broadway Weekโ€‹

Who can pass up on 2-for-1 tickets? The two shows I am eyeing are:

... and another thing for this week...

Opening this week, the New York Botanical Gardens has a new Orchid Show highlighting Mexican Modernism. I am a sucker for orchids!

โ€‹Anne Frank - The Exhibitionโ€‹

The Center for Jewish History in New York City has recreated Anne Frank's house. The exhibition is recommended for ages 10 and up, however you can bring younger ones to the exhibit as well

They have recently announced that the exhibit has been extended until October 2025

What we are Reading this week...

"Chika Chika Boom Boom" by Bill Martin Jr and John Archambalt

We're really into counting books these days and this one is definitely my favorite to read right now.

What Saved my sanity This week...

โ€‹MOFT Phone Tripodโ€‹

Absolutely necessary for anyone that has an iPhone. Saves you propping up your phone precariously against a salt and pepper shaker at the restaurant, hoping it will stop falling over.

You'll thank me on flights too!

What is always in my bag...

โ€‹Lolleez Lollipopsโ€‹

From the playground to the flights, this is always in my bag for my Little One. Perfect for sore throats, but to be honest, we're having them without being sick too! It was also a life saver for my Little One on the plane with us this week, to stop her ears from popping!

What i am Listening to this week...

โ€‹Nobody's News - Podcast

I started listening to their weekly podcast 'Nobody's Listening, right?', last year and it's quickly become a weekly favorite.

Andy and Elizabeth now release a daily episode covering the news... the only palatable kind of daily news that I can handle these days...

What i am treating myself to this week...

โ€‹Champagne Sweatshirtโ€‹

โ€‹

It's cute, it's soft, it has the word 'Champagne' all over it!

The company also supports a different charity every month!
