Our happy place.
I wish Cape Cod was closer. But if it were, it probably wouldn't be as special right?
We try to go at least once a year, sometimes twice. A couple of weeks ago we had the chance to take a quick trip up there and enjoy a little nature escape away from home.
The highlight for my Little One? The train ride to Rhode Island.
Getting there:
Option 1: Drive 5-6 hours from NY
Option 2: Take the train to Rhode Island then drive 1.5 hours
Option 3: Fly into Hyannis and drive
Places you MUST visit while there:
Hanger B: Not only is it a phenomenal brunch to rival all NY brunch places, but it's INSIDE the local airport. So you get to watch the planes fly in and take off while you eat. I dream of the breakfast sandwich with fried potatoes (pictured!)
Snowy Owl: There's a spot in Chatham, but the one you want to go to is their original place in Brewster. The best coffee you can get. So much so that we get the beans delivered to us here!
Chatham Fish Market: The only place I'd recommend getting a lobster roll from. Special mention to Sesuit Harbor Cafe, which is good for the vibe to sit outside and watch the boats - but I don't love their lobster roll as much.
Pain de Avignon:I don't recommend eating here, but definitely stop by and get two loaves of the Pecan and Cranberry bread. It's phenomenal.
Ducks in the Window: Chatham has a great strip of stores to visit - this is our favorite. We have a lot of rubber ducks at home, so seeing a whole store full is our dream!
Special mention: If you are a golfer, bring your clubs! It's really one of the best places to play and have the Little Ones ride along. I'm partial to my home course, Chatham Seaside Links. Fun and casual 9 holes to take the Little Ones on.
It's a bit of a hike to the UWS (Broadway and 81st), but I haven't been to any of the ones they've held this year. This looks like the last one on the schedule for the year!
.... and torturous for us. You may need to drag me kicking and screaming, but I am guilty of doing anything that makes my Little One happy. So we might do this... emphasis on might.
One of our very own local Moms, Natali, has an art residency at the NLAA House on Governor's Island. We're heading over to visit her with the kids and have a picnic too! It's right by Nolan Park which is close to where the ferries drop you off.
When: Saturday, Oct 11 and Sunday Oct 12. Check out Natali's instagram for hours through the rest of October
I'm two weeks in and this has changed my life. I have a lot of random things going in and out of my head and this has really helped me focus over the last two weeks.

... I know it's weird to see a Seattle address for a NYC based newsletter, but I promise that this is the official address for this newsletter given I use Kit as my provider!
