We are struggling...

I really wish the weather was better and more consistent - after 17 years in NY, this has to be the first Memorial Day weekend I've ever had where the weather wasn't super hot to kick-off the summer season.

Now Memorial Day weekend used to be my Superbowl... (I may have chased a few Marines in my 20's....). Those days are long gone!

Instead, this past weekend was spent desperately trying to entertain my Little One given there was no daycare on Monday.

So what did we do?!

Went to old faithful.... Space club.

I know... I've written about this place several times (I swear I'm not an affiliate), but I can't stress enough how great this place is to go on playdates.

The tried and true method for the perfect Sunday:

8am: Take an uber to Space in Greenpoint at 8am on a Sunday Morning (I know you're all up anyway...)

8:30am - 10:30am: Kids (and adults!) playtime. Everything from ball pits, to bead making, to bouncy castles

10:30-11am: Walk down Greenpoint Avenue towards the water.

11am - 11:30am: Stop at Homecoming to pick up a well needed coffee

11:30am - whenever: Head to Taku Sando and score a place in the backyard to eat some delicious sandwiches and let the Little Ones run around while you finally have a chance to chat with the adults

Whenever: Take the ferry home from Greenpoint to Wall street

I promise we'll have newer and exciting ventures to add here soon!

What we are doing tomorrow...

Manhattanhenge

I hate when I miss this! There are several places to get the full experience, my vote is Union Square 14th street. Easy to get to by subway and if you stand right outside Wholefoods, the only traffic on the road are busses in the bus lane

... one more thing for the family...

Dumbo Drop

We typically avoid Washington Street in Brooklyn like a plague... nothing like 100's of 'influencers' trying to get their shot...

But this weekend the 9th annual Dumbo Drop is happening. What is it? Well they're parachuting 1000's of tiny elephants from the rooftops for charity!

When: May 30 from 3:30pm-7:30pm

... one more thing for this week...

Films on the Green - Central Park

The French Film festival begins this week with the first movie being screened in Central Park

Lilo & Stitch - Rooftop Cinema Club - Midtown

It takes a lot to get us to go up to midtown, but a midday viewing of Lilo & Stitch on a rooftop, may be the trick

What Saved my sanity this week...

Bluetooth Headphones

I know I just recommended another pair two weeks ago. Think of those ones as your airplane pair and these ones as your TV pair!

It's no secret we are a screen-time family - but there's only so much of the Octonauts I can listen to... These pair beautifully with our Apple TV

Bonus points - the show doesn't stop when the headphones come off (i.e., they're not smart like Apple headphones), which is good because it means you don't have a 3.5 year old screaming at you to turn it back on!

What we are Reading this week...

"Curious George goes to the Chocolate Factory" by Margaret & H.A. Rey's

Maybe because it's about chocolate, this is my favorite of the Curious George series.

What I am Treating myself to this week...

Hair spa at Yume Hair

This comes highly recommended thanks to two local Moms, Michele and Velina!

I haven't gone yet, but I can't wait to get an hour long hair spa! I will diligently report back!

... I know it's weird to see a Seattle address for a NYC based newsletter, but I promise that this is the official address for this newsletter given I use Kit as my provider!
