The perfect UWS Sunday morning

The last time I as at the Museum of Natural History, it was for a first date in my early 30's. I'm outing myself by admitting that I haven't been back in 10 years....

Either way, this playdate was way more fun!

I've been avoiding trekking up to the Museum of Natural History just because it feel so far away! I can't take credit for this day at all - kudos to local Mom, Virginia, for organizing this playdate with four of our Little Ones!

When to go:

  • Go on Sunday morning. Let's be honest, we're all up and awake anyway, it's better to avoid the crowds. It opens at 10am, so we left downtown at 9am and were there by 9:30am
  • If you have a 3.5 year old, I dare say to bravely ditch the stroller and scooter. I ummed and ahhed about it because my Little One fades pretty quickly, but I definitely appreciated not having to carry the stroller up and down the subway stairs and push it around the museum

Getting there:

  • Take the C train uptown to 81 St-Museum of Natural History
  • Since you're there a little early, walk around the outskirts of the museum and you will find the UWS Sunday market. Grab a baguette and a muffin from the She Wolf bakery to fuel up before going inside

Inside the museum:

  • First stop: The main hall where they can run around and see all the animals behind glass
  • Second stop: Head straight tot he 4th floor where the dinosaurs are. We all know this is what they really want to see!
  • Third stop: Get extra tickets to head to the Vivarium and see the butterflies. We didn't realize it was an additional ticket and were already super exhausted by the time we found it, so we are definitely going back to see it again

After you go:

  • If you're a tv family like us, watch Night at the Museum after coming back. We'd seen the movie before hand and my Little One loved it, but now she realizes it's an actual place that she can visit and run around in!

Now that I realize how easy and fun it was to go, we're adding this to list of regular activities.

Next time I'll do my homework on what a 'fossil' really is and how the dinosaur exhibits are made before I go!

Grounded the stars exhibit in Times Square

Honestly, you're not going to find me trekking uptown with a Little One to Times Square on a weekend (.... or any day really), but there is a new art exhibit to check out if you happen to be entertaining out-of-towners and have to go to Times Square

and Don't forget about ...

There are so many bands coming to play in our backyard - I forget to check the line-up and see who is playing until it's too late.

What Saved my sanity this week...

Pajamas for summer

These have been our only pajamas we've used with our Little One since she was around 6 months. We get long sleeve sets for winter and just bought a new round of short sleeve sets for summer.

When I went to buy them this week I realized our last pairs were bought over 2 years ago! Quality is amazing - not to mention they're so soft and stretchy. We have all the crazy colors.

Warning for girl moms - don't be tricked into getting the ones with the 'frills' - they're not as good quality as the 'boys' ones - I guess the frilled edges make it look worn out after 2 washes
