I'm the first to admit that our 'day' adventures with my Little One are sparse and hardly up to their usual standard with this cold, brutal weather.
That said, I recently re-discovered Economy Candy.
I'm talking about the original location in the Lower East Side, not the small store in Chelsea Market (you couldn't pay me to go to Chelsea Market on a weekend...).
I can't remember the last time I visited, but I was recently on a mission to find specific Valentine's Day candy for the kids to decorate their Cookie Heart for the Valentine's Day classes - I forgot how amazing the store is and how much of a walk down memory lane it is. Even for me, growing up in Australia. Shockingly they had a lot of types of tim tams, which blew my mind.
Here's what I'd do with my Little One next time:
- Take the SBS-M15 bus uptown to the Grand and Allen stop
- Walk up Allen towards BonBon (worth stopping in for Swedish candy, but only if there is no line)
- Continue walking towards Dudley's to pick up a coffee and babycino to go (not to mention bathroom stop if needed)
- Head to Economy Candy and don't be afraid to spend a good 30-40 minutes looking through all the candy options
Now, I tell my Little One she can choose ONE option, however I'm not exactly going to stick to that rule for myself, which means I'll totally cave when she asks for more!
